Some customers call the Marcelino family the "Kardashians of Arizona."

"Because we kind of look like them and have fun and enjoy life like they do, always as a family," explains Jana Marcelino.

Like the reality television clan, the Marcelinos are also passionate about beauty, which makes sense since that's a big part of Suddenly Slimmer, their medical day spa.

"My mother, Luzivone Damaceno, started the business in 1988 because of her love for the beauty and the wellness industry," says Marcelino. "Since then my sisters, Cloudine, Dannielli, my niece Saharra and I have joined to help grow the business into a 12,000 square foot luxury spa offering over 75 treatments."

And, like the Kardashians, you can often find them featured in the media (especially Dannielli, left, who has appeared on several Valley television stations as an expert in skin care, peels, waxing and laser hair removal).

"I think what would surprise people about the beauty and wellness industry is that men like to take care of themselves just as much as women do," says Marcelino. "We have lots of male clients who come in for their regular facial, wax, Botox and fillers. Some men even joke that they can't allow their wife to look better and younger than they do."

She credits her family with Suddenly Slimmer's success. "I can honestly say my family and I are always thinking of new and exciting ways to make our customers feel their best. It's truly a pleasure to be able to work with my mom, dad, sisters and niece every day. It's like having the ultimate support system of people who know you, understand and love you, no matter what."

Like most families, Marcelino says they have disagreements, but in the end, "This is definitely one united family."
