56th Legislature Second Regular Session Updates
In the middle of March, most of the Greater Phoenix Chamber’s Issue Committees wrapped up with a few final meetings to discuss outstanding issues with members. During this time, final bills went through committees in the Legislature. The Legislature saw long agendas and floor calendars during this time. The Chamber’s Public Affairs team is staying apprised of things moving through the process, such as critical amendments or any other changes, to ensure bills the Chamber is supporting are making their way through the process. The team is also working hard to ensure bills that aren’t as business-friendly are hopefully getting stopped while having productive conversations with members of the Legislature. More Chamber supported bills are expected to pass, and the team is also working through the stakeholder process on some of the other bills as well.
The House of Representatives supported the continuation of the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA) in a bipartisan manner, which was then sent to the Senate. The Chamber is proud to see this progression and looks forward to more ongoing conversations supporting the ACA.
Budget discussions began, and the Public Affairs team is working with some of the Chamber’s key members at the Legislature on issues including:
- Renewing Prop 123
- Water Infrastructure
- Continuing the Arizona Commerce Authority
