Early Voting For City Elections Begins Today

Early voting for the City of Phoenix's Mayor and City Council Election begins today, with Election Day set for Tuesday, August 30, 2011. On the ballot are candidates for Mayor of Phoenix and City Council posts in Districts 1, 2, 3, 5 and 7 (District 2's is a Special Vacancy Election to fill the seat vacated by mayoral candidate Peggy Neely) and a pair of ballot measures.
The Chamber's Political Action Committee has endorsed the following candidates for City Council:
- District 1: Councilwoman Thelda Williams
- District 2: Jim Waring
- District 3: Councilman Bill Gates
- District 5: Eric Sloan
- District 7: Councilman Michael Nowakowski
For the first time, the City will use voting centers, meaning voters no longer need to go to a specified polling place in their home precinct. You can use any one of the 26 voting centers throughout the city to cast a ballot. The centers will be open on the Saturday and Monday prior to Election Day as well as Election Day itself. NOTE: The voting centers are ONLY for elections conducted by the City of Phoenix.
