Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) is the 2014 IMPACT Economic Driver Award recipient in the Small to Medium Business Sector (250 employees or fewer). Click here to see the entire list of recipients.

Discoveries made in the laboratories of the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) expand our knowledge of the genetic origins of disease, save lives and give our economy a much-needed "shot in the arm." Using cutting-edge genomic sequencing technology, scientists seek to unlock the secrets hidden deep in our DNA that could cure Alzheimer's disease, autism, diabetes, cancer and other maladies.

As part of the Phoenix Downtown Biomedical Campus, TGen's main facility contributes to the renaissance of our central core, but its economic impact - measured at more than $145 million by one independent study - reaches much farther. Partnerships with the Mayo Clinic and Scottsdale Healthcare and a facility in Flagstaff create jobs and spur innovation throughout Arizona.

By 2015, the non-profit institute and its for-profit drug development spinoff should create more than 3,400 jobs, $18 million in tax revenues and a healthy annual economic impact of nearly $400 million.
