Flashback: 2008 ATHENA Award Recipient Dr. Candace Lew

Dr. Candace Lew was the 2008 ATHENA Private Sector Recipient.

Dr. Candace Lew likes to think about her impact not just in Arizona, but the world. After 25 years as an obstetrician/gynecologist, she is returning to school to earn a Master’s degree in Public Health so that she can work internationally to improve women’s care.

Dr. Lew has held several leadership positions, from Chair of the Perinatal and OB/GYN Committees at Desert Samaritan Hospital to Board Chair for Planned Parenthood Arizona. In addition to training, coaching and advising numerous interns over the years, Dr. Lew also participated in Project Artemis, a mentoring program for women from Afghanistan.
